Update: Root Initials

Here is a Spring Sprout update from MK#18 & 19:

With His grace and mercy, our plants have been doing great! However, we noticed that some of our plants were growing white bumps on the lower part of their stem. We wondered what they were and after some research we learned that these white bumps are called 'root initials'.

Here is a picture of the root initials on MK#18's plant:

And this is a picture of MK#19's plant:

Apparently, these root initials are a sign of stress. And according to an article we read online, one of the reasons that may cause stress is over watering. This is definitely the case with 3 yr old MK# 18 who is constantly watering the plants because, "they're always thirsty".

From what we read, these bumps are not harmful and will actually take root if they come in contact with soil. If you're interested, you can read more about root initials here.

Update from MK# 18, 19 & 20

MK# 13 must have encouraged MK# 18, 19 & 20 to share their plants progress. Thanks for that!

Mommy says:
Here is a picture of our plants before transplanting them outdoors:

They so desperately needed a different container. Our biodegradable pots were developing fungus on the sides and we were worried that it would affect the growth of our plants. Add to that, we could see roots coming through the bottom and sides of the pots. This was a clear sign that they needed more space to grow.
Overall, the plants looked unhealthy with purple stems and the same purple-ish colour under its leaves. The leaves, if you can tell from the picture, looked as though they were wilting.

When it was time to transplant them, we put them into bigger plant pots with more space and soil.

Here is what they look like today. (This picture was taken this morning, June 17)

Update MK # 3 & 4

MK # 3 and 4 reporting again:

We are so excited!  Subhanallah, the greenhouse idea is working.  Four more sprouts have emerged from MK# 3.  Hurray!  Also 2 more sprouts have surfaced from MK# 4!  It's amazing to see a plant sprout from such a tiny, barely visible seed!  Allah has the power to do anything.  Six plants just grew overnight.  What a wonderful surprise in the morning! We can't wait for the other seeds to sprout, inshallah.

LOVELY PICTURES ! :)
